Professional experience

Vion Stefanakis is a seasoned investment professional working at Alpha Ventures since 2002, initially as an investment analyst and from 2008 as an investment manager. From 2013 he is member of the key executive team of the Alpha-TANEO fund, a €30mil. early stage general purpose fund. Vion is responsible for all aspects of private equity/venture capital transactions from deal sourcing, deal evaluation, structuring and execution, to monitoring of portfolio companies and exits. As member of the BoD of investee companies, Vion actively supports management teams in areas of strategy, business development and fundraising.

During his tenure at Alpha Ventures he has gained extensive exposure to a wide range of business sectors primarily in Greece and the Balkans and has been involved in the evaluation and structuring of deals ranging from startup ventures to multimillion private equity transactions with top rated international investors.

Vion was member of the team that concluded the first LBO in the Greek market and was responsible for the monitoring of the investment for Alpha Ventures. His latest investment is in a cutting edge water solutions startup backed by Niklas Zennström that generates water and energy consumption savings using technology derived from NASA’s Mars Habitation Program.

Prior to Alpha Ventures, Vion worked for two years as a corporate finance analyst at Alpha Finance in M&A and equity financing transactions, focusing on transportation, technology and financial institutions.

Vion holds a BSc. in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a MSc. in Civil Engineering from MIT.
