Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming response to infection, which can lead to organ failure,
amputations, and death. Sepsis takes 8 million lives every year while costing nearly
$24 billion in the US healthcare system alone. Starting appropriate antimicrobial treatment is crucial for sepsis survival. However, early sepsis diagnosis at the point of care remains a clinical challenge. Our mission is to bring to the market a novel, affordable test that will address the need for fast and effective diagnosis and therapy assessment of sepsis. Bialoom’s solution will rely on its proprietary photonic biosensor biochip that will conduct the tests out of small volumes of patient’s blood.
