Professional experience

Anita has more than 30 years of experience in the global pharmaceutical and device sector with strategic and operational responsibilities up to board director. After completing her PhD she entered the pharmaceutical industry in the Basel headquarters of Ciba Geigywhere she held consecutive positions as project leader in novel dosage forms development, contributor for regulatory strategy and operations in the global development teams for a wide variety of pharmaceutical products, and lastly group leader in regulatory affairs. Following this, she was board director in the newly founded European headquarters of Fujisawa in Germany, where she was responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of regulatory affairs and preclinical affairs, beginning with department creation and finally assuring company profit at seven years post founding as required by the German finance code. Her department also sheltered the legally required officers for animal protection and data protection. In successive positions she had responsibility for international regulatory affairs with Almirall Prodesfarma in Barcelona, implementing expansion in the global marketplace, for pharmaceutical development, for regulatory affairs and safety reporting at The Population Council in New York, developing AIDS treatments and contraceptives and maintaining existing NDAs, and for global regulatory affairs at Debiopharm in Lausanne, contributing strategy and directing operations for development and registration of treatments for cancer and rare diseases. Since then she has offered advice and services principally to small innovative companies developing pharmaceutical products and devices.

Anita has cooperated closely with national subsidiary management teams as well as licensing and business partnerships in more than 80 countries. Particular expertise includes crisis management, negotiations in a variety of settings, contracting consultants and suppliers, and staffing during corporate conditions of personnel reduction, company expansion, and merger. Her professional interests include realization of new concepts, integrating strategy and operations, multidisciplinary team management, data protection, EU politics and law.

Anita received her education in science and engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (PhD Food Technology, adjunct studies in nutrition, economics, and political science for health intervention programs).
