  • The 3rd Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, which is organized by the Centre for Entrepreneurship of the University of Cyprus (C4E/UCY) and The Hellenic Initiative (THI), will take place on November 28, 2017, at the University of Cyprus. PWC Cyprus and MIT Enterprise Forum Greece will actively support this year’s Forum. The Forum is also supported by the US Embassy in Cyprus.

    The purpose of IEF2017 is to showcase promising innovative research and startups incubating in Cyprus or by Cypriots abroad. To this effect, it will bring together Cypriot researchers with world experts and internationally recognized leading minds in innovation, and will provide the opportunity for pitching innovative ideas in front of successful entrepreneurs and venture capitalists from the USA and Europe. The Forum is a necessary and important step to help us make a case in order to establish a Grant Programme, with financial contribution from members of THI, with the aim to support the commercialization of innovative research in Cyprus.

    Keynote speakers of the Forum

    Leon Sandler, Executive Director of MIT’s Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation, USA.

    Herbert Chen, COO of Tusholdings (TusPark) Co. and Vice Dean of TusPark Research Institute for Innovation, Tsinghua University, China.

    The Forum will feature panelists and judges from abroad and include successful entrepreneurs investors in startups and innovation leaders such as Aristos Doxiadis, General Partner, Openfund, Greece; Alexis Pantazis, Co-Founder and Executive Director at Hellas Direct, Greece; Jeremy Downward, Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of Aristeus Asset Management, Cyprus; Vassilis Papakonstantinou, Chairman of MIT Enterprise Forum Greece and CEO of Mobiltron Inc. and Anna Protopapa, CEO, Mersana Therapeutics.

  • The Forum consists of four tracks:

    1) COMPETITION TRACK

    Deadline for applying 9 October 2017
    The 3rd Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum (IEF2017) seeks applications by start-up companies or teams with innovative products for its Competition Track. Selected applicants will be invited to present a 6-minute pitch in front of a panel of entrepreneurs, business experts and investors, and compete for monetary and in-kind prizes.

    2) RESEARCH CAPACITY TRACK

    Deadline for applying 9 October 2017
    The 3rd Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum (IEF2017) seeks applications by research teams with research results with a commercialisation potential for its Research Capacity Track. Selected teams will be invited to present their work in the form of a poster or a demo (or ideally both), during the Forum.

    Submissions to the Research Capacity Track must comply with the IEF2017 Terms & Conditions.

    3) STUDENT TRACK

    The Center for Entrepreneurship (C4E) of the University of Cyprus extends an invitation for proposals from students and recent university graduates with innovative start-up ideas.

    Submissions to the Student Track must comply with the IEF2017 Terms & Conditions.

    4) NETWORKING TRACK

    The Networking Track, which will provide an ideal opportunity to Cypriot research teams and Cypriot startups to network with people from the innovation, technology transfer and investor communities of North America, Europe, and Asia.
